When deciding on what would be the centerpiece of his candidacy for president, Bill Clinton's advisors said, "It's the economy, stupid." It wasn't the they thought the former president stupid but that it was an ovious matter and he would be wise not to stray from it. People can always be trusted to vote more money for themselves.
There have been those who have spoken about the particulars of the meretricious Obamacare bill. None of us, saving the Almighty, has any clue about what all is entailed in this and what malignancies might arise out of the conseqences of such a wreckless and ill-conceived policy. This is the heart of the issue for the present. It's called BAIT AND SWITCH.
The creep pulling this stunt first finds his target. He then promises him or her some benefit, "baiting a hook" so to speak. Then after he has the victim leaning his way, he then uses "the switch" to herd him in. The threat of negative conseqences for not taking the sales pitch is then applied.
Reference.com puts it as thus:
In politics
"In lawmaking, 'caption bills' that propose minor changes in law with simplistic titles (the bait) are introduced to the legislature with the ultimate objective of substantially changing the wording (the switch) at a later date in order to try to smooth the passage of a controversial or major amendment."
This, my fellow citizens, is the real issue. Bait and switch is unprincipled at best and criminal at worst. Either way, the Obamacare scandal is what it's about. The minority party is without sufficient strength to stop, or even slow down, this runaway train. The last bastion of strengh is "We the People."
That's what the teaparty groups are about. We know the peril that faces and we can no longer be at rest or we lose what has so graciously been handed down to us by our predecessors. We will be held in contempt by those who come after us because we were too preoccupied with other matters.
So, in summation, the "bait" in the bait and switch is not the issue. The "bait" should be ignored. It is merely the means to another end. And, precisely what is the end game? In my estimation, there is a two-fold end game. The first is to gain an iron-fisted stranglehold over another fifth of the U.S. economy. The second is to control the life of the citizenry itself; from conception to death. Which is to say, who shall live and who shall die. This is the essence of science fiction tragedy novels.
